UFO and Saxon are set to light-up the Cleveland House of Blues with Hard Rock and Metal music on Tuesday, March 28th. These two iconic bands have a livid history within their respective genres. The history between these bands is enough to make modern day bands jealous as they’ve managed to defy the odds, trends and generations. Opening the show will be Jared James Nichols.
UFO burst onto the music scene in 1969 during the second wave of the British invasion which featured notable artists: Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and Uriah Heep! Formed by lead vocalist, Phil Mogg, keyboardist/guitarist, Paul Raymond, drummer, Andy Parker, guitarist, Mick Bolton and Pete Way on bass guitar. The band had already established themselves with their own unique sound and style of hard rock music. The addition of former Scorpions guitarist, Michael Schenker in 1973 further established the band as a powerful entity.

With songs such as “Doctor, Doctor”, “Lights Out”, and “Only You Can Rock Me”; UFO became a live act known for their ability to reach out to the fans with passion and soul. In 1995, UFO reformed after a brief hiatus with the Micheal Schenker line-up and a new CD, ‘Walk On Water’ featuring a brilliant tune, “Venus” loaded with guitar crescendo’s and Hammond B-3. At one point, Jason Bonham was a band member.
The current line-up features original members, Phil Mogg, Paul Raymond and Andy Parker along with guitarist, Vinnie Moore and bassist, Robb De Luca. In 2015, UFO released a new album entitled, ‘ A Conspiracy of Stars ‘ featuring the forementioned line-up. This release is loaded with the signature UFO sound as it rocks with triumphant tunes like “Ballad of A Left Hand Gun”, Rolling, Rolling”, “Devils In The Detail” and “Sugar Cane”. ‘A Conspiracy of Stars‘ clearly provides the proof that UFO is full of life and the end is nowhere in sight!
Despite more than 48 years of ups, downs, success and tough times; UFO is still rockin’! The band tours extensively in Europe still, so this is a rare opportunity to see a monumental band in the history of Hard Rock in the USA. Just like their contemporaries from 1969, UFO are at their best live onstage.
Don’t miss UFO at the Cleveland House of Blues as they transport you back in time and treat you to a conspiracy of tales and music destined to touch your soul!
Saxon is a powerful band with a huge following of fans. The British band surfaced in 1997 out of England as part of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM). The masters of Metal have scored eight UK Top 10 Albums and two Top 5 records. Their success in the UK has resulted in numerous charting singles and over 15 million records sold worldwide.
Saxon’s first tour was under the wings of Motorhead and subsequent tours with Ozzy Osborne secured the bands popularity amongst fans. Saxon headlining appearance at The Reading Festival (1986), and the first Monsters of Rock (1981) Festival in England helped to establish Saxon as one of the biggest acts of their era. Their popularity soared in Europe and Japan from subsequent touring. Metallica, Mötley Crüe and Pantera have all cited Saxon as a major influence of their sound.

While the band is best in a live setting it’s their music that has created a lasting fury of excitement with the fans. The bands sophomore release ‘ Wheels of Steel’ featured two hit singles; “747 (Strangers in the Night)”, along with the self-titled album single. The band followed the record up with the subsequent albums, ‘Strong Arm of The Law and ‘Denim and Leather’ further cementing their career. But it was “The Power & the Glory’ released in 1993 that became the bands highest recording in sales. The subsequent resulted in their first headlining tour taking the UK and USA by storm.
Saxon currently features original members, Biff Byford on lead vocals and Paul Quinn on guitar. Rounding out the band are longtime members, Nigel Glockler on guitar, Nibbs Carter on bass and guitarist, Doug Scarratt.
Don’t miss Saxon at the HOB in Cleveland, Ohio on Tuesday, March 28th!
Jared James Nichols is a Hard Rock Blues guitarist, who is taking the USA by storm with his incredible talent. He has won numerous awards as “Outstanding Guitarist” by Les Paul and performed at NAMM. The Wisconsin-born, Los Angeles-based singer, writer and guitarist’s new EP “Old Glory & The Wild Revival” channels blues grit and gusto through bombastic arena-size rock ‘n’ roll. I’ve had the pleasure of hearing this young man and his band on tour last year. I highly suggest you arrive early to catch this gifted artist!
