The Rust Belt Chronicles 2016 Year-End Review!

The Rust Belt Chronicles

With 2016 rapidly coming to the end, I wanted to take the time to thank all of the people, who’ve helped make The Rust Belt Chronicles a success! We’ve now surpassed more than 10.2 million hits to our website in less than four years. That wouldn’t be possible without our readers, friends, bands, musicians, concert promoters, PR agencies, record companies, club owners, radio stations and our dedicated staff! I thank each and everyone of you for standing by us and spreading the word!

In February of 2016, our journalist/photographer, Larry Ritter, received a pleasant surprise from John Payne of Payne Productions and our friends at 99.7 The Blitz radio station in Columbus, Ohio. Larry’s was quoted from his review article of Grindhouse on The Blitz’s website!

In October we were privileged to cover the Tommy Amato Rock Relief 2016 Benefit to support our friend and vocalist, George Yunis of Cleveland, Ohio. The annual event held in honor of a area musician suffering from a illness or loss of a loved one was a success!

Being that we are not a radio station this was a total surprise and we are grateful to Live Nation for recognizing us as a partner in the music scene!

During 2016 our concert reviews have appeared on many artists websites including: Whitesnake, Alice Cooper, YES,  Goo Goo Dolls and The Babys.

dsc_7841a-684x1024Also, Steve Lukather, the incredible guitarist of TOTO tweeted this after reading our review of TOTO at the Hard Rock Rocksino Northfield Park:

I think thats the best review we have ever received. Many thanks!

This Tweet blew my mind considering Steve Lukather has over 94,000 followers, TOTO’s 37 year-old existence in the world-wide music scene and is a Grammy-Award winning band! Not bad company. These are some of the awards of receiving praise that make the work we do worth every minute of our time!

Many of our regional and local bands have also featured our reviews on their websites and Facebook pages. There are so many I regret not being able to provide a list. Please note your support is vey important to us since we began our existence by covering local and regional bands!

While we didn’t venture outside of Ohio for major concert festivals across the USA in 2016 as in the previous year, we discovered a gem in my own backyard during the 3-day tattoo and music festival; Ink In The Clink 2016 in Mansfield, Ohio! Although we partially covered the event in 2015, we were excited to cover the festival. We were amazed not only by the quality of he bands, but the professional organization of the management and staff headed by Rick and Susan Fields.  The story doesn’t end here!

Rick and Susan Fields saw the potential of the music scene in Mansfield, Ohio. They made a major decision to relocate to Mansfield from Akron and open their own Concert/Restaurant venue, the Whiskey Warehouse Bar & Grill! So far the decision has been a huge success packing their venue with national recording artists, regional, local bands and sporting events. Just as with Ink In The Clink, any issues are resolved immediately, professionally; while the staff, customer service and security are top-notch.

If you haven’t been to this beautiful Concert Venue/Restaurant check it out! It’s so exciting to witness a Mansfield, Ohio business becoming successful involving music/food, while bringing the local fans and those from bigger cities to Mansfield. Perhaps, we are playing a small part of their success in their continual achievement’s!

We’ve also been honored to cover another North Central Ohio venue that has accomplished being a factor in the local music scene, Dillinger’s Entertainment Center in Bucyrus, Ohio. Owners Shawn and Tacsha Ridgeway have brought national recording artists, regional and local bands/musicians  to their spacious venue. I’d also like to thank promoter, Tina Albright King of TK Booking and Promoter.

14508682_957572844371580_461196304_nThe success of Dillinger’s has also been due to their addition of offering food featuring Breezy’s Pizza ( the Pizza and Italian sub sandwich are to delicious)! Lately, Dillinger’s has added special dining hours and increased menu itemsto serve the public. Once again, we hope we have assisted in their success by covering many shows and assisting in spreading the word of this fine establishment with great music, customer service and security!

Local bands, Kobalt Kreek and  Departure – Journey and Classic Rock began advertising in our Local Gigs Wanted section.

An episode that hasn’t seen the light of day yet was a interview of The Babys at the beautiful Tangier in Akron, Ohio. This episode features the entire band with gust host, “Rokken Robyn  Halford”. Due to a lack of a tripod and my camera shake, we will be working on the video, seeing if it’s repairable. Our apologies to The Baby, their management and Robyn.

In 2016, I promoted Larry Ritter to the position of Vice President, we brought on Dave Dreher, who is an exceptional reviewer, writer, video editor and supporter. Amanda Musselman Snider joined us as the guest hostess of Rock Lines and journalist, whose charm, attitude and beauty has been noticed by bands in her interviews.

Mathison Kamin continues to do CD reviews and offer limited show coverage from the North Coast. “Rokken Robyn  Halford” returned as a journalist and co-hostess of Rock Lines.

. Joe Kleon.

Cleveland’s finest photographer, Mr. Joe Kleon.

Cleveland photographers, Joe Kleon owner of G4orce Studios and John C. Benson assisted us with photos as did our own, Dave Gilk!

These people and their dedication of sharing my dream has assisted in sustaining us through good times and bad. While we have had numerous people join and depart from our staff, those with the desire to see our effort succeed remain with us. The current staff members represent the heart and souls of my business, dream and incredible journey.

logo700I am proud of all the accomplishments and friendships we’ve established, while achieving substantial growth of media awareness from the Rust Belt area and across the USA. My staff and I could probably write a book just on those special moments of recognition by fans, media giants and others that have made our day. But ultimately, it’s you; our reader that drives our success!

I want to wish you, the readers, our staff and all of our associated venues, promoters, record companies, bands/musicians a Happy New Year and prosperous 2017!
