The Final Battle is set at the Whiskey Warehouse Bar & Grill for Ink In The Clink 2017!

After six exciting preliminary rounds of “The Battle of the Bands” the field has been narrowed to five bands that will be vying for three spots for the main stage at this years ‘Ink in the Clink’. The finals take place tonight (Saturday, June 3) at the Whiskey Warehouse Bar & Grill. It was a fierce battle with all 27 groups that fought for the right giving, enthralling performances, proving that rock-n-roll is no where close to being dead in The Rust Belt area.

Those five bands who are lucky enough to advance include Dread Engine (Columbus), The World I Knew (Cincinnati), Line of Defense (Jackson Township),  Ignite The Fire (Taneytown, Maryland) and The Battle (Cleveland). It is a eclectic list that includes traditional style, instrumental rock, a hip-hop, rap, heavy sound and  electronica. There’s something for everyone so make sure to get to the Whiskey Warehouse by 9:00 p.m. There’s no cover so that’ll leave a little extra for you to enjoy a few of your favorite libations.

Dread Engine in Battle of the Bands prelims!

Dread Engine is a six piece ensemble who feature Sam Stockdale in the lead vocals role with help from Rick Kaercher who also takes care of the digital portion of DE‘s performances. Tommy Sartin and Jake Spears both do backup vocal work and play guitar while Jay Coughlin (drums) and Jonathon Collins (bass) makeup the rhythm section. Dread Engine does a tremendous job of getting the crowd involved with their no holds barred attitude.

The World I Knew playing during Battle of the Bands preliminary round!

Wesley Merritt is the man in the middle for The World I Knew, a band with the unique sound of metal hip-hop rap. Max Guerrero pounds the skins with Jared Saleski thumping the bass. Alex Guerrero and Wesley Davis lay down the riffs and licks of the six strings. Together this quintet can bring the heat and have fun doing so.

Ignite The Fire during Battle of the Bands preliminary round!

Ignite the Fire’s highly energized act is spearheaded by lead vocalist Jack Gurecki. He is joined by guitarists Mark Quinn and Michael Nelson with Holly Smith (bass) and Caelon Gregory (drums) rolling out the thunder of the rhythm section. With a Led Zeppelin style, Maryland based ITF prove that old school sound is alive and well.

Line of Defense meld modern rock with the sound of the 80’s and 90’s to create a sound all their own. David Bruno (bass), Zakk Stayer (guitar) and Alex Braholli (guitar) share the vocal duties for this four piece group from Stark County. Setting the beat for the guys is Mitch Stayer, who resides on the throne behind the drums.

Rounding out the finals card will be a four piece instrumental act out of Cleveland who call themselves The Battle. Their instrumental sound is refreshing and will no doubt catch you attention. The Battle is made up of Donnie (drums) and Ron Copenhover (guitar) as well as Chris Shaheen (guitar) and Tom Nemo (bass).

It’s going to be a great night of rock with some truly amazing local artists. It should be an intense battle for the three spots and a show you won’t want to miss.

The Whiskey Warehouse Bar & Grill is located at 1400 West Fourth Street in Mansfield, Ohio. Performances begin at 9:00 p.m. but get there early and enjoy some grub from the Whiskey‘s outstanding menu.
