This Friday night the House of Blues in Cleveland, Ohio will welcome national recording artist, Saliva along with special guest The Everyday Losers and Devilstrip. Tickets for the show are $18 in advance and $23 the day of the show. Doors open at 7:00 p.m.

Saliva has been on the rock music scene for over twenty years, getting their start in Memphis, Tennessee in 1996. The band had instant success advancing to the final round of the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences Grammy Showcase.

They’ve gone through many changes over the years but remain focused on the future, continuing to hit the pavement as they have for most of their existence.

Guitarist Wayne Swinny is the only original member still with the band. The guitarist extraordinaire can lay down the licks and riffs with the best of them, evident by the fact that he is the lone six stringer in the band.

Bobby Amaru took over the unenviable task of filling the shoes left vacant by the incomparable Josey Scott, who left the band in 2011 to pursue a career as a solo Christian artist. Amaru has been more than admirable in the stead, carrying the old Scott-like vocals with a true professionalism while creating a unique sound all his own.

Paul Crosby has manned the seat behind the kit for Saliva since 2000 with rhythm mate, Brad Stewart, jumping on board in 2015, taking over for another original, Dave Novotny.

There have been ten albums released by the band and they have had success with nearly the whole library beginning with their self-titled debut that led to signing with Island Records after selling 10,000 copies during their run in the previously mentioned Grammy Showcase. The bands breakthrough piece came on the third release entitled ‘Back into Your System’ which featured “Always”, a tune that topped out at #51 on the top 100 in 2003.

‘Survival of the Sickest’ (2004) bridged the gap to the introduction of ‘Blood Stained Love Story’ which hit the shelves in January of 2007. It would eventually climb to #19 on Billboard’s top 200 and #2 on the Mainstream Rock Charts behind the popularity of singles such as “Ladies and Gentleman”, “Broken Sunday” and “King of the Stereo”.

‘Cinco Diablo’, and their greatest hits compilation was on the market in 2008 and 2010 respectively while ‘Under Your Skin’ marked the final work done with Scott. “Badass” was the second single from the album and made its way to # 26 on the Mainstream list.

With Amaru onboard the group began work on their eighth studio release on RumBum Records entitled ‘In It to Win It” which was dropped on the fans in September of 2013.

Their latest album ‘Love, Lies & Therapy’ made its debut in April of 2016. A month later the band announced that they had signed on to do the Make America Rock Again tour. Other bands on the tour included Saving Abel, Trapt, Drowning Pool, Alien Ant Farm, Crazy Town, 12 Stones, Tantric, Fuel, Puddle of Mudd and P.O.D. And they continue to beat the bricks ever since.

Current tour mates, The Everyday Losers, hail from Washington, Indiana in the southern part of the state. They have three full length albums and a pair of EP’s to their credit. The first, entitled ‘Songs for Us All” made the scene in 2011 followed by the second EP ‘Social Paradise’ a year later.

With the success of those two early adventures the band went all in on ‘Revel in the Chaos’ full length release in 2014. In July of last year they presented ‘Before You Say a Word’. That also led to a live album from their release party called ‘Feedback in the Key of E’ that they unleashed in April of this year.

Brother Dylan and Tyler Seidel share the vocal and guitar work for the four-piece ensemble with Danny Norton (bass) and Damian Baker (drums) providing the thunder of the rhythm section. Together they provide hard hitting riffs and a power-laden sound that is similar to the grunge sound of Nirvana, Bush and Seether.

Opening the night’s festivities will be the well-known Northeastern Ohio commodity called Devilstrip. The Akron based trio of Marc Wasmund (vocals, guitar), Jimmy Gray (drums, vocals) and Graig Lindgren (bass, vocals) has known each other since their childhood and that comradery is definitely shown with their stage presentation.

Devilstrip combines classic rock with a dash of metal that is heavy to its core. They have shared the stage with acts such as Pop Evil, Steel Panther, Buckcherry, Jackyl and Red Sun Rising.

‘Rise’ is their debut album which they worked on solely. Not only did the trio perform for the album but they also wore the hats of writers, producers and distribution as well.

All of the hard work that Devilstrip put into ‘Rise’ paid off earlier this year when they signed on with Broken Road Records, thus becoming the first USA band to do so.

Their first project with the record label will be called ‘Testify’ and is scheduled to make its debut in July.

With a lineup loaded with this much talent you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better way in which to spend your Friday night. And it’s the House of Blues, what more could you ask for?

Until next time this is Big L saying ‘keep those horns up and rock on’!! \m/ \m/
