In addition to the great music and amazing ink displays that will be going on fans can take a free self-guided tour of the majestic architecture wonder that is the Ohio State Reformatory MRPS. An added attraction will be a short preview experience of Blood Prison, the haunted attraction that will take over the grounds during the Halloween season.

As in the past there will be no shortage of food with all types of vendors adorning the surrounding areas. Food trucks aplenty will be amongst those as well as adult beverages stations and oddity vendors.

Rick (founder and CEO) and Susan Fields (owners of Whiskey Warehouse Bar & Grill) are once again the driving force behind the festival with Justin Smith coordinating the backstage logistics.

Headlining the event will be In This Moment (Friday), Three Days Grace (Saturday) and Theory of a Deadman (Sunday). The trio will have plenty of other national acts who will be preceding them including names such as All That Remains, Mushroomhead, 10 Years, Otherwise, Starset, Texas Hippie Coalition, Black Stone Cherry and Bobaflex just to name a few.

One of the most unique things about Ink in the Clink is the melding of local flavor onto the stage from not only Mansfield but also Columbus, Cincinnati, Cleveland and as far away as Maryland and New York.

If you’re familiar with the local Columbus scene bands like Dread Engine, Grindhouse and Black Coffee are on the bill. Cincinnati is represented by the hidden gem known as The World I Knew while The Battle, Hope for the Hollow, Olathia and Sink the Ship hail from the Cleveland area.

Of course there’s a plethora of home grown groups as well including the likes of Autumn Burning, Bonesaw, Perfectly Damaged and others.

Heartsick (Michigan), Breathing Theory (Florida), Ignite the Fire (Maryland) and One Step from Falling (New York) will be making the trek to from their respective states to show off their skills as well.

Obviously you can’t have an Ink in the Clink without the ink and there will be no shortage of that. Over thirty different studios will have a collection of over 80 artist’s onsite ready to do original pieces or personal requests. The best way to go about both is to visit the studios website or Facebook page and schedule an appointment ahead of time. A complete list of studios and their representatives can be seen at www.inkintheclink.com.

Things actually get underway a day early with a pre-party at the Whiskey Warehouse Bar & Grill, located at 1400 W. 4th Street in Mansfield. Mansfield mainstay, TRUST, will be unleashing their covers of bands such as Chevelle, Five Finger Death Punch and others to get the weekend started. There will be giveaways of merch compliments of the Whiskey as well as a few other surprises that may be in store.

TRUST Rockin’ the Whiskey Warehouse Bar & Grill!

Music begins at 9:30 p.m. but get there early and enjoy something from the outstanding menu that they offer.

If things work out you may see me there. If not you’ll definitely see me and fellow members of The Rust Belt Chronicles team Friday through Sunday at the Ohio State Reformatory MRPS for IITC. Until then this is Big L saying ‘keep those horns up and rock on!! \m/ \m/
