Green Day brings the “Revolution Radio Tour” to Blossom Music Center – Monday August 21, 2017

Green Day, possibly one of the most iconic Punk Rock bands of the era, is coming to rock Blossom Music Center on their “Revolution Radio Tour” on Monday August 21, 2017. The band was formed in 1986 by lead vocalist and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong and bassist Mike Dirnt. Lineup changes happened as they generally do, and Tre Cool came in as the bands drummer in 1990, just before their second studio album, Kerplunk.

Originating within the punk scene at the DIY 924 Gilman Street Club in Berkeley, CA, the band’s early releases were with the independent record label Look Out! Records. Dookie, released in 1994, became the bands break out success and eventually shipped over 10 million copies in the US.

Green Day has sold more than 85 million records world wide. Titles including Insomniac, Nimrod and Warning, though none have seen the success that Dookie brought.

Award Winning

Green Day has won five Grammy Awards, including Best Alternative Album for Dookie, Best Rock Album for American Idiot, Record of the year for“Boulevard of Broken Dreams”, best Rock Album for the second time in the 21st Century and best musical show album also for American Idiot: The Original Broadway Cast Recording. The stage adaptation for American Idiot debut on Broadway in 2010. The musical was nominated for three Tony Awards: Best Musical, Best Scenic Design and Best Lighting Design, taking home the award for all but the first.

Opening the show, will be Catfish and the Bottlemen, a british rock band out of Llandudno, Wales. The band was formed in 2007, making their debut with their album The Balcony. Their first album reached number 10 in the UK Albums Chart and achieved platinum status in December 2016. They have toured in South America, Japan, the UK, Europe, Australia and North America. They have featured a number of festivals including Lollaplooza, Glastonbury and more!
