Former Clevelander Jennifer Farley and No Matter What Reunite at the House Of Blues for Concert and Fundraiser for the Greater Cleveland Food Bank on January 13, 2018

Former Clevelander Jennifer Farley had once been a big part of the music scene here in town. Back when she was known as Jennifer Preisler (before she married her husband, Mike Farley), the vocalist used to perform in a local cover band known as No Matter What. This band consisted of Jennifer Farley, vocals; Tom Tonkli, vocals & guitar; Joe Del Re, guitar, Pete Scorzino, bass; Bob Horwatt, drums. Together, they performed all over the area as they entertained their audiences with their renditions of popular songs at the time.

After No Matter What went their separate ways, Jennifer Farley would join forces with Mike Farley and the two musicians would perform together for several years, mostly at locations such as Flannery’s Pub where they would gain a following. Eventually, the two would become husband and wife. Later on, a business decision was made concerning the future of Mike Farley’s company called Michael J. Media and Jen and Mike found themselves needing a new location to grow the operation. Taking Michael J. Media with them, the Farleys left Cleveland for other locations. Currently, the Farleys and the company call Madison, Wisconsin home with the rest of their family.

Now, years after the band of No Matter What called it a day, the band is reuniting and doing so for a good cause. While the band has reunited once before when they performed at the House of Blues in 2013, it has been several years since the musical outfit has played together. This reunion of the band will not only be a chance for the cover band to once again perform together on stage, it will also be a chance for a lot of good to be done. The bands that will be performing as part of the concert will be helping to raise funds for the Greater Cleveland Food Bank.

For the January 13, 2018 concert featuring No Matter What that will take place at the Cleveland area House of Blues, Jennifer Farley will be rather busy. Not only will she be taking part in the performance for No Matter What, she will also have yet another performance to be a part of that night. But this time, the band she will be performing with does not have its roots here in the Cleveland area.

While living in Madison, both Mike and Jennifer Farley found themselves needing to reengage with the musical sides of their personalities. This would lead to Mike Farley reuniting with his old band from Cleveland called the Mike Farley Band with whom he would release the band’s latest album called Where We Stand, while Jennifer would find a musical outlet of her own as she joined up with other singers in the Madison area.

Together, Jennifer Farley, Shawni Marks and Beth Kille would combine their talents to create the band Gin, Chocolate & Bottle Rockets. Together, the trio of Farley, Marks and Kille have released one six-song self-titled EP under the Gin, Chocolate & Bottle Rockets moniker. The band’s release finds the trio creating a release that contains original music with three tracks written by Beth Kille, two tracks written by Shawni Marks & Beth Kille and one track which was written by Mike Farley and originally released on his 2000 album entitled Blue. Gin, Chocolate & Bottle Rockets will perform music from their self-titled EP as part of the concert.

Along with the two bands that Jennifer Farley will be part of on the night of January 13, 2018, the other two acts will be joined onstage by Dan McCoy and the Standing 8s. Like Jennifer Farley and the rest of No Matter What, Dan McCoy has been a staple in the Greater Cleveland area music scene for years. Having performed with the band Rambler 454 and his own band of the Standing 8s, McCoy has a deep collection of music to draw from. He also has just released a new album entitled Live & Alone, a solo acoustic album recorded live in concert. It’s a safe bet that McCoy will be performing material from that album as well, as other material from earlier albums when he hits the stage on January 13th.

It has been a few years since Jennifer Farley has been back to Cleveland to perform. And when she does return on that January night, she will be doing so for a good cause as she and No Matter What, along with her Madison, Wisconsin-based group of Gin, Chocolate & Bottle Rockets and Dan McCoy & the Standing 8s all help raise money for the Greater Cleveland Food Bank. The January 13, 2018 concert will take place inside of the House of Blues in the Cambridge Room. So, head on out to The House of Blues on January 13th, welcome Jennifer Farley home, and help the band No Matter What as they raise money for a good cause.

  1. First of all I want to say great blog! I had a quick question that I’d like to ask
if you don’t mind. I was interested to find out how you center yourself and
clear your mind before writing. I’ve had a tough
time clearing my mind in getting my ideas out.
I truly do take pleasure in writing but it just seems like
the first 10 to 15 minutes are lost just trying to figure out how to begin. Any
    ideas or hints? Many thanks!
