Danny Wimmer Presents brings you Louder Than Life. The Rust Belt Chronicles Preview #2

For the fourth consecutive year Danny Wimmer Presents brings the rock world to Louisville, Kentucky’s Champions Park. The nation’s premier production company for rock festivals creates a unique experience for the attendees of Louder than Life not only with major rock-n-roll acts such as this year’s headliners, Ozzy Osbourne with Zakk Wylde and Prophets of Rage but also the city’s outstanding culinary variety along with the bourbon experience.

We here at The Rust Belt Chronicles are delighted to bring you a preview of all of the artists that will be performing at the event this year. Previously we introduce you to DED, Palisades and Through Fire. This insertion will include He is Legend, New Years Day and Fire From the Gods, three additional bands that will be playing on Saturday.

Anaheim, California is the home to New Years Day, a five piece group who call their sound ‘hauntedmansioncore’ thanks to the mixture of eerie haunted sounds combined with hard rock.

NYD got their start in 2005 and have had three albums including “My Dear” (2007), “Victim to Villain” (2013) and their latest “Malevolence” which was dropped in 2015 on Another Century Label.  The compilation rose to #45 on Billboard’s Top 200 Chart.

Ash Costello has been doing lead vocals since the band’s inception and is the only original member still around. Nikki Misery has handled the lead guitar role since 2011 with Jeremy Valentyne taking care of the rhythm guitar and backup vocals. Last year former Static-X bassist, Frankie Sil, came on board as the bassist with Canadian drummer Joshua Ingram joining the ranks a few months later.

Rise Records artist Fire From The Gods are an alternative/hardcore group out of Austin, Texas. This powerful quintet blends heavy metal with a little hip-hop and a dash of occasional reggae to create a unique sound all their own.

AJ Channer is the man in the middle and whose life is the main backdrop to FFTG’s music. His musical background is diverse due to the frequent moves that he and his mother made when he was a child.

Jameson Teat and Drew Walker share the spotlight with their six strings while Bonner Baker (bass) and Richard Wicander (drums) form the rhythm section.

Fire From The Gods was originally formed in 2010 but it wasn’t until 2015 when Channer and his raw aggressive power was recruited that things begin to take off for the band. The following year they released the album “Narrative” which was re-released earlier this year with an additional two songs that was produced by Jonathon Davis of Korn.

Our final band for this article is He is Legend out of Wilmington, North Carolina. The four-piece ensemble has five albums under their belt including the latest “Few” which was released under Spinefarm Records and has climbed to #170 on the top 200 list.

He is Legend started in the late 90’s when members Schuyler Croom (vocals), Denis Desloge (guitar, backup vocals), Adam Tanbouz (guitar) and Matty Williams (drums) were playing and writing songs while still in high school. The band started in earnest under various names until He is Legend stuck in 2003.

Their discography includes their debut album “I Am Hollywood” which was released in 2004. The band began to see success with 2006’s “Suck Out the Poison” which peaked at #158 on the top 200 charts. In 2009 they dropped their most successful venture to date with “It Hates You” which clawed its way to #126. In between that and “Few” came the recording “Heavy Fruit” which settled in at # 148.

We have given you a little info on six of the bands from Saturday’s lineup and will continue to do so right up through the day’s headliners, the previously mentioned Ozzy Osbourne with Zakk Wylde, Rob Zombie and Five Finger Death Punch.

Make sure to go to www.louderthanlifefestival.com to get your tickets. They’re going fast and you don’t want to miss this stellar lineup.

Our next preview will feature Sleeping With Sirens, Steel Panther and Starset.

Until then this is Big L saying ‘keep those horns up and rock on’!! \m/ \m/
