Cellar Door Rendezvous

Over the years, the Greater Cleveland area has been home to several music festivals. And while some have come and gone, having faded into the past, one particular festival is still alive and well. In fact, it is quickly approaching. That event is the Cellar Door Rendezvous.

The Cellar Door Rendezvous is a multi-day music festival that is put on yearly by Cellar Door Cleveland, a publication that cover Art, Music, Style and more in the Greater Cleveland area. The Cellar Door Rendezvous is a great way to promote some of the best talent in and around Cleveland all at one time.

2015’s Cellar Door Rendezvous will be taking place from August 4th to the 9th. The event will be incorporating much of the Cleveland area as it takes place at The Rock And Roll Hall of Fame, the Grog Shop, Brothers Lounge, the Beachland Ballroom, MOCA Cleveland, and the Cleveland House of Blues. The various locations add variety to the event while also adding a nice way of allowing people from various locations in Greater Cleveland to attend at least one event without needing to travel too far out of the way to get to a venue.

This year’s Cellar Door Rendezvous begins on Tuesday, August 4th, 2015. The Opening Night Party for the event will take place at the Rock Hall. The event will include a Music Forum that will be powered by PechaKucha, the concept of creating a presentation onstage with the use of 20 images for 20 seconds. This event on August 4th will include Clevelanders such as Kathy Simkoff – Owner of the Grog Shop, Barry Gable – Senior Vice President of Live Nation, even Justin Markert – Founder of Cellar Door himself. And after the Music Forum, attendees will get the chance to rub elbows with these speakers and other people during the Music Mixer.

Day Two of the event, August 5th, 2015, takes place at Brother’s Lounge. The event, Anatomy of a Song, will feature Tom Evanchuck, Megan Zurkey, Steph Trivison from These Knees and others. These artists will be performing in a Singer in the Round type of setting. As these artists are not usually the types to do a singer-songwriter night, this will be a very unique opportunity to catch them in an extremely intimate setting.

While the Cellar Door Rendezvous features several events that cost money to attend (or at least a ticket), Day Three (August 6th, 2015) will be a chance to attend one event for free. The Thursday Night event will be taking place outside of Cleveland’s Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) and will feature the music of the bands Midnight Passenger and Cities & Coasts. This is the perfect opportunity to experience the festival if you cannot afford the tickets to the rest of the events.

For Day Four of the event, Friday, August 7th, 2015, the company pulls out all the stops as they gather some of the biggest names covered by the organization over the years. For the August 7th show, bands like The Modern Electric, Ottawa and The Moxies will gather in one location for one night. The bands performing that night are all headlining bands and can hold their own. But together, they make for an unforgettable show. And when adding in Seafair to the mix with a 40-piece orchestra, you end up with a show you should not miss. The August 7th show will be taking place at House of Blues Cleveland.

Just like the event at The HOB, Day Five (Saturday, August 8th, 2015) of the Cellar Door Rendezvous will be something to check out. On that day, Cellar Door will be using both the Tavern and the Ballroom stages at The Beachland Ballroom with many bands performing on those stages. The night will belong to bands like Obnox, Nights, Teddy Boys, So Long Albatross and many others.

For the final night of the Cellar Door Rendezvous (Sunday, August 9th, 2015), the focus will be on the Hip-Hop scene in Cleveland. Artists like Smoke Noises, Common Ave, Archie Green and more will take to the stage at the Grog Shop. If Hip-Hop is your thing, the final night of this year’s Cellar Door Rendezvous is for you.

With every edition of the Cellar Door Rendezvous from Cellar Door CLE, the festival becomes larger and larger. This year’s event contains many different elements that will appeal to a lot of different people. From August 4th to August 9th, you can check out some of the best talent Cleveland has to offer.
