Rock/Roll Perspectives” at AsiaTown’s Loftworks Gallery, located at 1667 East 40th Street, Cleveland, OH 44103. This incredible gallery exhibit and photo sale features the work of two of Cleveland’s best-known music photographers, Joe Kleon and Anastasia Pantsios.

With each working in a different era — most of Anastasia’s work was done from 1975-1989 and Joe has been shooting for the past 15 years — two perspectives emerge. One looks at the classic era when Cleveland put stars like Rush and Bruce Springsteen on the map and superstars like Tina Turner, The Who and Michael Jackson reigned, while the other captures today’s colorful pop stars and rock groups such as Taylor Swift, Imagine Dragons, the Dave Matthews Band and Britney Spears, in addition to shooting ageless legacy stars such as Paul McCartney, Aerosmith, Rod Stewart and Elton John. Together their work provides a visual history of hundreds of concerts fondly remembered by Clevelanders.

Anastasia started shooting music in Cleveland in the 1970s and did most of her work in the 1980s when she captured such superstars as David Bowie, Prince and U2. Her work appearing locally in The Plain Dealer, as well as in Rolling Stone, Creem, The VillageVoice, The New York Times, The Toronto Star, Esquire and many other publications, and on album covers, in tour programs and in books. Her exhibit Girls to the Front: 40 Years of Women in Rock was featured at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in 2011, travelled to Pennsylvania’s Lehigh University and Chicago, and was re-mounted at the Rock Hall early this year.

Joe has been shooting concerts for 15 years and is currently the top concert photographer in Cleveland. He has photographed over 1,000 concerts. His work appears regularly in Scene, free lances for The Plain Dealer, as well as other national and international publications; he has also been hired by many bands to shoot for them. He is the official photographer for Michael Stanley and Wish You Were Here. He’s photographed many of the classic acts that are still touring, ranging from Springsteen to ZZ Top to Rush, and a whole host of current top-of-the-charts artists such as Taylor Swift, Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Blink-182 and Imagine Dragons.

More than 100 photos will be on display at Rock/Roll Perspective, with additional prints available for sale in the biggest offering yet of the work of these two photographers. Come snag a photo of your favorite act, or pick up some to give as holiday presents!

One of the first photographers I got to know when I started The Rust Belt Chronicles was Joe Kleon.  After I met Joe Kleon at my first show in the photo pit at a concert, whenever I had a question; Joe was kind enough to assist me. Being new to photography the tips he gave me provided have never been forgotten. Joe Kleon is one of the best photographers currently photographing concerts. The images he captures are a stunning display of professionalism reflecting between his sharp eye, quick-finger and camera expertise.

Joe Kleon currently runs G4orce Studios in Cleveland, Ohio and photographs concerts, events, portraits, and sports.  I am proud to call him a friend and look forward to seeing his latest gallery exhibits.

Anastasia Pantsios is perhaps Cleveland’s original greatest photographer of all-time. Her career spans decades from the early years of the NEO music scene in 1970 through the 1980’s. Anastasia is responsible for many of the promotional photos of  Black and White photography for local Cleveland bands during that time period. But it’s her color photographs that breath life into her repitiore of the many national acts and music artists she’s photographed. In those days, if legendary Cleveland music journalist, Jane Scott was covering the show; Anastasia would be one of the few photographers to capture the moment on film!

The show opens with a reception on Friday November 10th from 5:00-9:00 p.mSaturday, November 11th, the exhibit is open from 2:00-8:00 p.m. On Sunday November 12th from noon-5:00 p.m. The classic rock duo of Jim & Eroc (Jim Tigue & Eric Sosinski) will perform at the gallery on Saturday, November 11th from 3:00-6:00 p.m.

This Gallery Exhibit is sponsored by: CoolCleveland, Print Me Graphics, LumiLor, NEO Pro Imaging Inc., and Advanced Air Duct Solutions, Inc.
